About Us

Here to support you

Our mission is to ensure that the assessment process is accessible, meaningful and of direct relevance to the individual. All whilst providing reassurance, identification of strengths and challenges and then suggesting ways forward to ensure equality in both education and the workplace.

Our Story

Dyslexia Support Lancashire was founded by myself, Helen Nelson, with the aim of making Dyslexia and Dyscalculia assessments as accessible and affordable as possible for primary and secondary pupils, College and University students and adults in the workplace.

Assessor and specialist teacher

Helen Nelson

I am a member of the Dyslexia Guild, the British Dyslexia Association and the Dyscalculia Network. I hold a current Assessment Practicing Certificate (APC). An APC underpins a specialist teacher's qualifications and competence, it is not a mandatory requirement, but demonstrates a commitment to quality and an up-to-date knowledge of assessment procedures. It also ensures the report can be used for application for Disabled Student Allowance (DSA).

I hold an enhanced DBS check and am fully insured.

As well as my own business, I am also an approved assessor for the British Dyslexia Association.
